Cylindrical coordinates
Cylindrical coordinates locate a point by specifying its distance
r
from the
z-axis,
its angle
q
with the positive
x-axis,
and its usual
z-coordinate.
They are a mix of polar coordinates
(r, q)
in the
xy-plane,
and one rectangular coordinate
z.
These cylindrical coordinates are written
P = (r,q,
z).
