Vector field,Conservative vector field, Gradient field

A two-dimensional vector field is a function $\QTR{bf}{F}$ whose domain is contained in $\QTR{Bbb}{R}^{2}$ and whose values are in $\QTR{Bbb}{R}^{2}$.

A three-dimensional vector field is a function $\QTR{bf}{F}$ whose domain is contained in $\QTR{Bbb}{R}^{3}$ and whose values are in $\QTR{Bbb}{R}^{3}$.

A vector field $\QTR{bf}{F}$ is called conservative if it is the gradientMATHof some scalar function $f$.
