Monotone convergence theorem

Sequences whose terms increase a1a2a3a4 ≤ · · ·  and sequences whose terms decrease a1a2a3a4 ≥ · · ·   are called monotone sequences.

The monotone convergence theorem states that any increasing sequence that is bounded above converges, and that any decreasing sequence that is bounded below converges.
