Increasing and decreasing functions
A function f is increasing if f(a) < f(b) whenever a < b. A function f is decreasing if f(a) > f(b) whenever a < b.
Increasing functions and decreasing functions are called monotone functions.
The graph of an increasing function goes up as you go from left to right. The graph of a decreasing function goes down as you go from left to right.
