Implicit functions

Some functions are presented in an explicit manner by giving a formula for
*y*
that involves only the variable
*x*.
But
*y*
can be a function of
*x*
without being displayed in such a manner. For example,
*x*
and
*y*
might satisfy some equation such as
2*x*^{2}*y* -
3*xy*^{3} + 5*x* = -15
.

Such functions are called implicit functions.
