Error bound

An error is a difference between a computed, estimated, or measured value and the true, specified, or theoretically correct value. An error bound gives a measure of the possible size of the error.

If a function $f\left( x\right) $ is approximated by a polynomial $p\left( x\right) $, the error is the difference MATH. An error bound is given by a function $E\left( x\right) $ satisfying MATH
