For the points $(a_{1},b_{1})$, $(a_{2},b_{2})$, $...$ $(a_{n},b_{n})$, the first divided differences areMATHIf we denote these first divided differences by MATH, then the second divided differences areMATHand so on.

The coefficients of the Newton interpolating polynomial are divided differences.
